USS New London

The USS New London was a screw steamer built in 1859, purchased by the Navy on 26 August 1861 and commissioned 29 October 1861 with LT Abner Reed commanding.

She was assigned to the Gulf Squadron, arriving on station in late November 1861. She remained with the West Gulf Squadron when the squadron was split into East and West in early 1862. New London remained in the West Gulf AOR until she was ordered to sail to New York on 12 July 1865 to be decommissioned and sold.
